DIY Washing Soda

I've been wanting to make my own laundry soap, but all the recipes call for "washing soda", which is rarer than hens' teeth in my part of the world.

But then, this! I found this instruction on how to make your own, and it couldn't be simpler. Hurrah!

We'll see if laundry soap makes it onto my to-do list this very busy weekend.

TTFN!

well, learn something new everyday... you never know when I might need to know this... but I'll probably have forgotten it by then. the cancer thing, a friend and I were discussing breast cancer and I said I'ld have mine surgically removed if necessary but would refuse further treatment and prepare myself to lead as full a life as I could for as long as I could, sometimes though I've seen diagnosis to death in about 6 weeks. not long. I would like to think I would refuse further treatment having watched people go through it and die anyway. and their last times of life were sickness and crap and hospitals and crap. I would rather go home and die in bed.
swinging emotions and wanting everything? me too.

I didn't think it looked grumpy Claire. I don't have any argument with people deciding not to take treatment, and I think often that's the best decision in certain circumstances. I just think we should be awake to the fact that we are making a decision. That's mostly what I was trying to convey, that it's not always a straightforward thing to maintain a consciousness about what we're doing.

A lot of hobby brewers also tend to make their own soap or cheese.
Maybe it's just having the very large pots laying around.
Soap is cheap enough that I don't mind buying it.
Cheese, on the other hand, is something I would make.
I'm waiting until I inherit a goat or two from some unknown relative. The cats are enough for me to attend to for now.
